Traffic management system A73 Nuremberg south
AD Nürnberg/Feucht - AS Nürnberg-Hafen-Ost
The motorway A73 is the southern feeder for the city of Nuremberg. This 10 km section of the A73 links the A9, which is one of the most important North-South connections in Germany and the A6. The A6 is an increasingly important East-West motorway, connecting Southern Germany with the Czech Republik.
Daily commuter flow overlapping with high volumes of long distance HGV traffic makes a steady performance of this section a very difficult task.
An extension of lanes is out of the question due to environmental reasons. Therefore, a TMS has been installed to stabilize traffic flow near the A73/A6 motorway interchange "Nuremberg-South".
Start of operation: 2006
