Statistical evaluation of Berlin's approximately 2.000 motorway accidents each year - Detection and presentation of major accident hot spots
Based on the police statistics on road accidents, the senate department for urban development presents a report about the accidents on federal motorways (approx. 70km).The annual report covers and categorizes the accident situations. For this purpose, the accident rate of each section is to be defined and has to be compared to typical accident rates and those of the preceding years.
All accidents are are presented in an accident map which eases the detection of hot spots. These are then analyzed specifically by accident causes and types, as well as the parties involved. Incidents involving trucks and motorcycles are regarded separately.
In addition, the report covers a coverage of all safety measures executed by the responsible authority in the preceding years. Furthermore, it includes additional suggestions to further reduce the number of accidents.
