Guidelines for the Design of Lane Control Systems in Israel
prepared for the Israeli Ministry of Transport
"Guidelines for the Design of Lane Control Systems in Israel". They are currently being prepared for the Israeli Ministry of Transport and guided by a steering committee.
They consist of five parts:
- 1. Comprehensive Lane Control System
- 2. Reversible lanes Systems
- 3. Lane Control for Road Pricing
- 4. Lane Control for High Occupancy Tolled Vehicles (HOT)
- 5. Tunnel Traffic Control Systems
They are intended to be the formal design guidelines in these areas.
The document is being developed by a partnership of three bodies: Itut 80 Ltd. (owned by Yoram Ben-Yaakov), Yoav Sacks Engineering, and Yuval Blum Traffic Engineering.
Kai Lorenz of VIA Beratende Ingenieure Berlin, has contributed to these guidelines by organising an expert's workshop covering the concept of traffic control on German motorways and in road tunnels. Hereto, he used the major Berlin Tunnels and the TMS systems installed in the Capital as a prime reference.
Kai Lorenz is a member of the German FGSV's experts committee responsible for the German Guidelines for traffic control in road tunnels.
