Tunnel Adenauerplatz, Berlin Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
Traffic control system
Urban road tunnel (260m, 3 lanes) featuring a contraflow lane reversal system, as well as lane control signals, dynamic route guidance systems, variable messages signs and traffic lights.
Built in the 1970s, the Tunnel Adenauerplatz is a 3-lane urban road tunnel featuring contraflow lane reversal system. For this purpose the tunnel tube includes a reversible middle lane.
To signal its operation status, the tunnel is equipped with a lane control signal system and variable message signs which are controlled by light signals. The tunnel can be locked by use of variable message signs and additional variable direction signs. As most control units and display systems are outdated, they have to be replaced in several conversion periods.
The design features the basic evaluation and the traffic signal design. This includes phasing and signal group display sequences, signal lockings, phasing schemens, as well as a building plan for several conversion periods during operation.
